If you saw my sons Nautical Birthday party, and then you probably noticed the ice foam bar that I incorporated. This got my wheels a turnin' for a Kids Summer Action…
Ice Cream Sandwich Block
It may not be pretty (hence the "kid activity," verbiage) merely it sure is GOOD, and the kids had a nail. THAT'Southward what matters.
I let the boys choose what flavor of ice foam that they wanted for our DIY Ice Cream block adventure.
I already had ice foam fixin'south left over from our water ice foam bar at the altogether party last calendar week, then I simply brought information technology all outside with u.s.a.. Dig in that pantry and see what you have. The crazier the possible water ice cream topping, the better for kids, right?
Go the Kids Involved
I started past setting upwardly a small tabular array outside, in the grass, for easier cleanup.
We started out by lining a loaf pan with wax paper. Parchment paper should work too if that'south what you have handy.
(Yeah, my child is wearing his Superman costume, and I'm not sure what else to say about that.)
Then it was time for my kiddos to unwrap the water ice cream sandwiches. I won't mention how many of these went in to their bellies earlier they actually made information technology to the loaf pan.
Once I convinced them to cease eating the ice cream sandwiches, I had them identify 3 sandwiches in the bottom of the pan. Depending on the size of your loaf pan, the quantity may differ.
I could take broken up a 4th sandwich and filled the gaps, but that'south where the Peanut Butter Panic Ice Cream came in.
We scooped some of the water ice cream out, and filled the gaps with the scoops of ice cream. I let the boys use their hands, for some added messiness, but I used a small block spreader.
Just fill the gaps, in and around the water ice cream sandwiches, until you lot no longer see "space."
Once that is all filled in, take some whipped cream and cover that layer with the desired corporeality you cull.
Good luck getting away with not sharing the whipped cream with your youngsters. If y'all manage this… allow me know your skillzzz…
Add some other layer of ice cream sandwiches on summit of the whipped cream, spread more ice cream on summit, and and then layer with another round of whipped cream.
Time to Decorate!
This is where I REALLY permit my kids become artistic.

Peanut butter syrup…
mini chocolate chips
It was fourth dimension to freeze the cake for just a bit! I had planned to let the ice cream cake "sit," in the freezer and harden for nigh an hour. But… as life would take information technology, my husband called and said he needed me at the office right Abroad.
My kids were chomping at the bit to eat some, and I didn't have the heart to make them wait. And so after about 30 minutes of it sitting in the freezer, nosotros went ahead and pulled it out. It was hardened, but not as hard as I wanted information technology to exist. And so if y'all take the time, let it sit for near an hour.
Lift the water ice cream block out of the loaf pan, by lifting upwards on the wax newspaper. Carefully pull the wax newspaper off of the cake (yeah, your hands tin can get messy with this, merely not horribly… and it'south worth it.) Place information technology on a plate or a large platter, and slice off a hunk and enjoy!
Superman thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ice Cream Sandwich Cake
This dessert recipe is SO easy to brand and actually tasty. Take the kids aid with this water ice cream block recipe!
- six mini ice cream sandwiches
- 2 cups ice cream of choice
- 2 cups whipped cream
Water ice Foam Toppings (optional):
- sprinkles
- chocolate syrup
- chocolate fries
Prevent your screen from going dark

Line a loaf pan with wax paper

Line 3 water ice cream sandwiches along the bottom. (The size of your loaf pan may crusade the corporeality of ice cream sandwiches needed, vary.)

Top water ice cream sandwiches with one cup of ice cream of choice.

Spread 1 cup of whipped cream on top of ice cream.

Repeat by layering another 3 ice foam sandwiches, one loving cup of ice cream and one cup of whipped cream.

Superlative with desired ice cream toppings.

Freeze for 1 hour.

Remove from freezer, and lift up cake out of loaf pan by lifting out the wax paper.

Slice ice cream sandwich cake into private slices.

Serve immediately. Freeze any leftovers.
